Membership Application Process

Are you a woodwind, brass, or percussion musician who is interested in joining the Nanaimo Concert Band?

The Nanaimo Concert Band, which is run by the Nanaimo Concert Band Society, rehearses weekly from September to July. The band presents 4 main concerts in the year (Fall and Spring at the Port Theatre as well as Christmas and Summer concerts). Nanaimo Concert Band also participates annually in the Remembrance Day ceremony. Additional concerts locally and out of town vary from year to year.

Membership is open to any person fifteen years of age and older who can meet the required playing standards and if there is room in the section. Our current annual membership fee (for 2006/2007) is $200.00 ($60.00 for students).  A $50.00 deposit is required for the band property (music folder, uniform and stand) which will be reimbursed when you leave the band and all the property (music, music stand, uniforms) is returned. We waive dues if any member is facing a financial hardship. Members would be expected to have their own instrument except for Percussion.

APPLICATION PROCESS
If you are interested and feel that you meet the playing standards above complete the Member Application Form at the link above and send it to nanaimoconcertband@gmail.com

Your application will be provided to the Music Director and Section Leader for initial screening. Should the playing experience be unclear, the Music Director might request you to record a video of yourself playing the scales and sample excerpts or make some other suitable arrangements.

If there is room in the section and the Music Director is comfortable with your background, you will be contacted and asked to come and try out. If no room is available at the time of application, an offer may be made to be placed on the waiting list.
